Strategy for Avoiding Employee Complaints
Our proven 5-step process is the key to minimizing employee complaints and protecting your organization from unnecessary risk.
1. Update Employee Handbook
Maintain an up-to-date Employee Handbook: A comprehensive EEOC and KRA compliant employee handbook that reflects your vision and values is the best way to protect both your employees and your organization.
4. Establish Complaint Process
Follow a standardized complaint process as defined in the Employee Handbook: Work days don’t always go the way you’ve planned and people don’t always do what they should. If an employee complaint arises, having a clear and fair process for handling the complaint will ensure that the situation doesn’t get any worse.
2. Inform Employees
Inform all employees about the contents of the Employee Handbook: Communicating the contents of your Handbook so that employees really understand what is expected of them and what they can expect from you is critical to reducing the risks associated with employee complaints.
5. Hire Outside HR Investigation
Hire an outside HR Investigator when appropriate: Sometimes you will need an outsider who is not involved in the situation or the politics surrounding the situation in any way. You need an experienced HR Investigator at the ready who will conduct a timely, thorough, confidential and objective investigation.
3. Train Supervisors
Train all Managers and Supervisors in both the contents and implementation of the Employee Handbook: Managers and Supervisors who follow the handbook guidelines set clear expectations, hold employees accountable, and foster a positive work environment.
